Your username on Blogger...

I notice that everyone on this blog seems to have a different type of display name. Please go to your account, and change your display name to your first and last name. This will allow me to grade your summer assignments, without guessing who will be getting the grade.

I hope you are all having a fabulous summer so far!

Enjoy your summer reading!

Enrollment and Where to Start

Hello everyone!

I am very excited about next year already. Those of you who have logged on and given your information are awesome! If you are reading this, and you have not commented, please do so immediately so I can close the blog soon.

Your summer assignment is posted on the right. Please be sure to complete ALL of the pieces, or you will be dropped from AP English this year.

I will be calling every student soon (hopefully, at the end of next week) to confirm your enrollment. I will also be listing the names of our class members here.

Begin with The Scarlet Letter. You will be required to read this book for regular, honors and AP English. The Crucible is the same. The Alchemist is a good book in comparing a fable to other literature, but is not required reading for any other class. Therefore- read this text last.

The dialectical journals posted on the blog (3) should be posted by August 10th. Your responses to the entries of other people (3) should be posted by August 22nd.

I will collect your dialectical journals (written, 5 for each novel) on the first day of school.

If you have any questions, I will be answering email over the summer, so please email me right away.

I am so glad to have you all in class this year!

Welcome!

Welcome to AP English for the 2008-2009 year! I am honored to be your teacher this year. We will be working toward passing the AP exam, while learning about our world through current events, critically responding to reading, making podcasts, videos, essays, letters, and learning how to win an argument.

Let's have an adventure together!
